emTube FAQ

Q: I get certificate error when I try to install emTube.
A: Please go to Tools->App. Manager, select Options->Settings and set "Software installation" to "All" and "Online certif." to "Off".

Q: I get "update error" when I try to install emTube.
A: Check if you have PIPS already installed (you can do that in App. Manager) If you do - either uninstall PIPS before installing emTube or install version without PIPS included.

Q: Will there be a version for S60 2nd edition phones?
A: No, the PIPS libraries that are crucial for emTube are not available for 2nd edition phones.

Q: Will there be a version for UIQ?
A: There is a slim chance.

Q: I get "No location header in redirection response!" error when I try to view any movie.
A: Your operator is messing with the responses received from youtube servers. emTube was redirected to a different youtube server in order to download a movie but the address of new server was removed from response. Try using different access point or removing proxy from the access point you are currently using. This problem is common for AT&T users, removing wireless.cingular.com proxy usually helps.

Q: I get "Empty response received from server!" error when I try to view any movie.
A: Content-length header wasn't included in response, most likely removed by your operator proxy. Vodafone is known to do that, in this case you may try using "Vodafone live streaming" instead of "Vodafone live" access point

Q: I get "emTube was redirected to html page instead of FLV movie!" error when I try to view any movie.
A: Most likely Vodafone again. They have some sort of deal with youtube and they redirect calls to youtube to their own site (live.vodafone.com). You my try using normal GPRS access point instead of "Vodafone live". Here is a link to a tutorial on how to prepare different access point.

Q: I get "error during network operation: 413" whenewer I try to watch or search for a video.
A: Apparently this can be fixed by upgrading your firmware. On N95 this problem was fixed in firmware v20. Also it has been reported, that some operators use this error to limit number of data user can transfer to the device. In this case - try different access point or check if your access point uses proxy server and if it does - try removing it.

Q: I am on t-mobile network in uk and I cannot access any of the features emTube offers, searches returns no data at all!
A: T-Mobile considers youtube to be 18+ site. You have to contact your operator to remove the content lock.

Q: When playing some videos duration is 00:00 and it is not possible to change position during playback.
A: Videos from YouTube have metadata included, which contains video duration as well as file index used for seeking. Videos from other sites or encoded with 3rd party converters may not include this informations thus it is not possible to get video duration or seek indices. Also, when you try to play video directly from YouTube by specifing ID there won't be any informations about duration, hence the 00:00 duration.
You may use any metadata injector to update indices before copying video yo your phone if you want to be able to seek in a video file. If you are converting video yourself you can use SUPER, this program adds metadata indices to a flv file during conversion.

Q: Does emTube allows to access all the videos on YouTube or has the same limitation as the mobile youtube (m.youtube.com)?
A: emTube allows to access all the videos on YouTube. Including restricted content.

Q: Do I have to install any additional software to get the accelerometer support on N95/N93i/N82?
A: No. emTube uses built in Sensor API, no additional software is required.

Q: Do I have to install FlashPlayer v3 in order to get video playback?
A: No. emTube comes with built in video player.
